Many people are frustrated by the pesky wrinkles or deeper creases that form on our faces as skin naturally ages and loses its laxity. JUVEDERM injections can smooth out wrinkles and creases and restore the skin’s natural volume.
How It Works
JUVÉDERM® is a smooth, transparent gel made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. JUVÉDERM injectable gel is injected under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. It is most commonly used for your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds – the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth) and lip augmentation.
The effects of Juvederm have been known to last for up to a year, at which point the biocompatible gel will be harmlessly absorbed by your body.
The Newvue Approach to Injectable Fillers
Having your injections administered by a highly trained professional can make all the difference. While anyone can give an injection, getting meaningful, natural results requires an understanding of anatomy that you won’t find in your average nail salon. Improper injections can give patients a puffy or “worked on” appearance.
At Newvue, Dr. Min and your aesthetician will create a customized series of injections to take years off your face while still allowing for natural movement and expression.
Dr. Min and his staff will take the time to fully understand your goals and ensure that you have clear and realistic expectations about the results you can expect from JUVEDERM. He will study your skin and ask you to move your face so he can see how the underlying muscles affect the area in question. He will recommend a customized injection series to smooth wrinkles and lines while still preserving your natural appearance.
Safety & Risks of Injectable Fillers
JUVEDERM is a fully biocompatible substance based on elements that occur naturally in your skin. It is FDA approved for cosmetic procedures on patients of all types. Side effects re extremely rare. Some patients may experience tenderness or redness at the injection site that generally fades quickly. In rare cases, patients may experience bumps, bruising or swelling which should subside within a week.
Your JUVEDERM Procedure
JUVEDERM procedures usually take no more than 20 minutes. Injection points will be marked on your skin, and a nurse or aesthetician will apply a topical cream to help numb the area. The injections will be administered, and while there may be some slight pain, today’s needles are so fine that most patients experience almost no discomfort.
After Your JUVEDERM Procedure
You can expect to experience mild soreness, as you would after any injection, which will fade quickly. You are free to immediately resume all normal activities, though we recommend you avoid intense sun exposure for at least 24 hours.
You can expect to see some results immediately, and full results will be visible within 48 hours. Your skin will feel firmer and tighter, and fine lines and creases will be diminished if not gone all together.
JUVEDERM results generally last between 9-12 months.
